Dr. Farhi is an experienced fellowship-trained and board-certified ophthalmologist with additional expertise in advanced cataract, glaucoma and iris surgical techniques. She received her formal training from world-renown ophthalmologists such as Dr. Alan Crandall during her glaucoma anterior segment fellowship and Dr. Joel Schuman during her ophthalmology residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
While Dr. Farhi sees patients with a variety of eye problems including cataracts, glaucoma, blurred vision, diabetic related eye disease, macular degeneration, dry eyes, red eyes, floaters (spots in vision), flashes, irritated or painful eyes, pediatric eye diseases, contact lens related problems, eyelid lesions, corneal problems, neuro-ophthalmological problems and more, she is the only glaucoma and anterior segment sub-specialized ophthalmologist in the New River Valley.
Dr. Farhi is known to provide thorough and compassionate care which has earned her patient-designated awards such as the “Healthgrades Honor Roll,” “Patient’s Choice Award,” “Compassionate Care Award”, and the “Patients’ Choice 5th Anniversary Award” (awarded only to top 1% of physicians in the United States). She has been voted for several years in a row as having the First Place in Best Bedside Manners amongst ophthalmologists in the New River Valley by annual surveys conducted by Our Health magazine. She has also been voted as the “Best Eye Doctor” in the Roanoke Times edition of Best of NRV. Dr. Farhi was featured on NPR WFTF, Fox local news for her innovative ways to protect her patients and staff from Covid-19.
Prior to coming to Blacksburg, Dr. Farhi was a partner with a well-respected ophthalmology group in Pittsburgh. She attended medical school at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and performed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She has completed a glaucoma and anterior segment fellowship at Moran Eye Center to master additional advanced technique in glaucoma and complex cataract surgeries.
In her spare time, Dr. Farhi enjoys spending time with her family and gardening.
